European non-ferrous metal imports are projected to reach approximately 82.9 million metric tons by 2028, up from 81.4 million metric tons in 2023, reflecting an average annual growth rate of 0.5%. Since 2019, the demand for these metals in Europe has remained steady. In 2023, Germany led the continent in non-ferrous metal imports, accounting for about 15.3 million metric tons. Spain, France, and Norway followed in second, third, and fourth places, respectively. Notably, Malta saw a significant year-on-year increase of 14.7%, while Cyprus experienced a decline of 3.2% annually since 2019. On the export front, European non-ferrous metal shipments are expected to reach around 51.1 million metric tons by 2028, up from 49.7 million metric tons in 2023, marking an annual growth rate of 0.9%. Since 2019, the supply of these metals in Europe has increased by 1.1% annually. Germany also topped the export rankings in 2023, with 7.4 million metric tons of non-ferrous metals sent abroad. Spain, France, and the Netherlands followed in the rankings. Serbia showed an impressive annual growth of 25.5% in exports, while Luxembourg saw a slight decline of 1.5% per year since 2019.
